While it is true that we could pop online and pick out a beautiful Mother’s Day gift and have it delivered, there is something extra special and amazing about homemade gifts that bought ones just can’t match up to. I prefer gifts made by my children because it gives me a warm feeling, thinking about the effort and thought they have put into it.
This blog is going to be full of homemade gift ideas that you can make for the special lady in your life, whether it be your mum, nan, mother in law or wife.
Because those mistake-filled gifts from the hands of babes will be treasured long after the pretty things from Amazon are forgotten.
- Lavender Scented Pockets – these are so easily done and can be used in drawers, under your pillow or even in her car. Firstly, you need to grab some fabric quarters, we have lots available on our eBay page. I Will post the link at the bottom for you, sew three sides of the square and fill with dried lavender, then sew the last side and you have yourself a beautiful gift.
- Succulent Garden – find a large glass jar or vase, fill with compost and plant the succulents into the compost, tie a ribbon around the jar, a beautiful gift bringing life into her home.
- Memory Jar – mums defiantly create the best memories, so this is a perfect way to remember those beautiful moments together. Find a large jar, cut strips of paper and write in colourful pens the sentimental moments she made extra special. Fold them carefully, place in the jar. Simple but guaranteed tear shedding from mum when she relives those moments.
- Fabric Coasters – this is the perfect gift for any tea lover and to use up those fabric quarters. So many colourful creations you could make to brighten up the coffee table for spring.
- Mother’s Day Hamper – grab yourself a beautiful wicker basket, fill with colourful tissue paper. Pop to the local shops and find all her favourites, wine, candles, facial scrub, pamper mask, moisturiser, I am sure you get the gist. Individually they are small gifts but together you have created a beautiful hamper full of things that she loves, and she will most certainly notice you picked her favourites out.
- Paper Flower Bouquet – This is a perfect homemade gift, for any mum who isn’t the greenest fingered but loves flowers, they look beautiful for years to come and no effort or attention required.
Studio DIY has a great tutorial on their website for making giant crepe paper roses using a template available from Martha Stewart. They are so pretty, and the large size just makes them stunning. Bunch them together with some tissue paper or place them in a vase.
- Fabric Handprints – Ok, I am absolutely IN LOVE with this one! Can you imagine kicking this project up a notch and getting all the kids and grandkids to turn their handprints into personalised squares with their names underneath… then turning it into a quilt for grandma??
